The rumor has finally ended, and now is official. Eddie Redmayne has joined the film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and he will play the role of, Newt Scamander.

On Monday, Warner Bros. has revealed the name behind the lead role in the upcoming “Harry Potter” spinoff. Redmayne, who is an Oscar-winning actor, has “emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors,” according to Warner Bros. Pictures’ President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production Greg Silverman.

“We are thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance as Newt Scamander, the central character in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” Silverman said.

Redmayne will be Scamander, considered in the “Potter universe” as the “Wizarding World’s preeminent magizoologist,” who spends his entire time traveling through the magical world of J.K. Rowling, while documenting the fantastical creatures he publishes the history textbooks for Hogwarts that eventually the trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione will spend hours reading them.

According to what has being said, the spinoff is expected to be a trilogy, and the first one is going to be written by the original Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling alongside David Yates, the man who was the director of the last dour films of the franchise. This will be Rowling’s first screenplay.

“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity,” Yates said during the statement. “I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”

The new spinoff will be backup by many members of the “Harry Potter” cinematic family. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will not be only produced by Yates and Rowling, but also by Dadid Heyman, a producer who worked in the eight movies from the franchise, the team will also have Lionel Wigram, the executive producer from the last four and Steve Klove, writer of the seventh film.

Is expected that the film will be released on November 18, 2016 in IMAX and 3D.
