Four teachers of the University of Northern Iowa have won the University Book & Supply (UBS) Outstanding Teaching Awards for 2015. Mike Licari, Interim provost and executive vice president of the university, made the announcement of the awards that was published at today.

John Burnight, assistant professor of philosophy and world religions; John Wiles, assistant professor of music; Matthew Webb, assistant professor of mathematics; and Nicole Skaar, assistant professor of educational psychology and foundations, have won the awards.

The awards are given to pre-tenured faculty members who have demonstrated major contributions to the quality of teaching.

Fulfilling student needs and interests, demonstrating skills in various instructional techniques and using innovative classroom strategies and materials are considered as factors for the awards. Faculty, staff and students make the nominations.
